Best known for her ethereal landscape and figurative paintings, Kristen Santucci's body of work has the ability to transport viewers to the space between shadows and light, allowing us to witness the transmutation of the changing luminescence. Studying her paintings is like gazing at a subject in the pre-dawn light of consciousness between dreams and waking.
Kristen is a self taught artist who was born in Maryland in 1970. At the age of eighteen, she moved to Clearwater, Florida where she resided for over thirty years. In May of 2022, Kristen relocated to Montpelier, Vermont. The beauty of her new surroundings has inspired Kristen to focus on painting Vermont's unique landscape.
Kristen is a current member of PoetsArtists group, where her work has been featured in several of their publications and online exclusives on Artsy.net. Her work has recently been featured in an issue of Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine. Kristen's paintings have been collected nationally and internationally.
Was 2022 a good year for you?
For me, this year has brought a lot of changes. I had been working in an art gallery in Clearwater, FLorida for over eight years. In January, the owner of the gallery passed away and my job ended. In May, my husband and I decided to move to Montpelier, Vermont. There have been challenges, but I feel that I'm where I'm supposed to be.
What were some of the highlights in your art career?
One of the highlights of this year was participating in a plein air event in Vermont, and selling a painting right off the easel!
Were you included in any shows?
I was included in Abend Gallery's Holiday Miniature Show. I had three pieces included in a group show in a local Vermont gallery. I was also included in a few online shows on Artsy through 33 Contemporary Gallery.
Were you published in any art magazines or periodicals?
I was absolutely thrilled that one of my paintings was selected to appear in the September/October issue of Fine Art Connoisseur! A painting of mine was also featured in an article in a local newspaper.
What are you looking forward to in 2023?
I am so happy to be living in Vermont! It's unlike anywhere I have ever been, and I am obsessed with painting the landscape! Now that I am getting more settled in my new environment, I look forward to creating many new works in 2023!
